"I think cyclists and motorists need to begin by obeying the laws of the road. Cyclists need to realise we are not owners of the roads and vice versa.

I believe we (the cyclists) should set an example for others to follow. It takes one second to slow down but also one second to kill someone, mutual respect is what we need."

Son of a former professional rider, Daryl became famous when he won the overall classification of the Tour of Turkey despite breaking two vertebrae in a crash, caused by Theo Bos, in the final kilometre of the last stage.

Nic is a master tactician, which in a team sport like road cycling is a significant asset. A professional for 11 years, Nic is one of the most experienced riders in the South African peloton and can read a race better than anyone! He’s a fast time-trialist and a strong climber, the two key qualities required to be an accomplished stage racer.

He’s been instrumental in many of teammate Malcolm Lange’s victories over the years and his captaincy experience will be put to good use in 2009. Winner of the prestigious UCI Africa Tour in 2008, Nic is considered one of the continent’s biggest cycling stars.
